About Us
Who We Are
Established in 1983, Pleasant Homes serves families, municipalities, developers, and Indigenous communities with a commitment to quality and service excellence for over 40 years.
We deliver homes and commercial modular structures across the Canadian prairies and northern territories with personalized, professional service. We offer unique maintenance service packages and enjoy exceptional partnerships with some of the premier modular housing and land-lease communities in western Canada.
With age comes experience and wisdom. We’ve learned a couple of things along the way. For over four decades (that’s two generations!), we have built exceptional relationships and a reputation amongst home buyers and our industry partners as a trusted and caring company. We maintain an average of a 4.5-star rating on Google reviews and we are accredited with the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating.
Ownership Team
Gary Hauk
Before Pleasant Homes, Gary spent over 25 years working for the Saskatchewan Provincial Government, managing various Social, Affordable and Rural and Indigenous Housing programs in the province, and eventually the province’s entire Housing Authority Network of over 325 local agencies.
Gary’s extensive knowledge of housing and the challenges of supplying homes to remote communities, paired with his capability to create trusting relationships has enabled the business to thrive. Pleasant Homes enjoys several long-standing partnerships with First Nations leaders for housing, daycares and friendship centres. Our relationship with Land Developers has resulted in the completion of several
The Modular Housing Association Prairie Provinces and the Canadian Manufactured Housing Institute have benefited from Gary’s expertise when he served as a member of the Board. He is an empathic and passionate advocate for those experiencing homelessness and supporting communities that need superior access to housing options.
Simon Boersma
Simon got his start in this industry as a young man, working in SRI Regent Homes’ manufacturing facility in Lethbridge, Alberta, on the factory floor in an entry level position. He quickly worked his way up to the position of Foreman before he decided to set up his own business contracting to do set up, service and warranty work for Pleasant Homes; later moving into a partnership role with Gary.
Very few individuals in this industry have the experience and expertise that Simon and his team share. They are the foremost experts in the region for modular, manufactured and even mobile home service and repair.
Simon is dedicated to serving, and is a passionate philanthropist. In addition to overseas trips to serve underprivileged communities; he has served at the President of the Morinville Chamber of Commerce; the Modular Housing Association Prairie Provinces; Rotary Club of Morinville; Sturgeon County Economic Development Advisory Board; and since 2020, has served as the Mayor of Morinville.
Custom Modular Construction
In 2006, the partners grew the business from residential manufactured homes to include modular homes, ready to move homes, cottages, park models, offices and commercial structures. Modular construction enables flexibility. We are equally open-minded in the projects we’ll partner on.
Pleasant Homes primarily serves home buyers in many different environments and circumstances, including land-lease communities, cottages, farms and acreages, but also in urban infill. We build structures from basic park models to complex projects with basements and multiple modular sections.
We are one of the only modular home retailers in western Canada that offers full turn-key options, coordinating every step of the construction process, including permitting, and the only organization in the metro Edmonton area servicing older manufactured and mobile homes.
When time is money, modular construction has the advantage. Increasingly, modular is becoming mainstream and developers are seeking speedier construction methods. We are a great fit. Our business serves crown corporations, municipalities, and developers; along with numerous First Nations and Metis Communities. We are incredibly proud of the relationships we’ve built that speak to the value we offer, along with our ethics and integrity.
Open Minded and Creative
We have had the honour of partnering on some amazing award-winning projects that we are really proud of. Daycare facilities; a youth activity centre; 100-person commercial camp kitchen; offices; a motel; teacher’s housing; indigenous housing; a medical centre; and other incredible projects.
