Furnish your first home with things you’ll keep long term:
Your first home is likely to be one you don’t stay in forever. Generally, first homes are merely a stepping stone to your final home while you save money and learn to do things on your own. While you may not stay in your first home forever, you may even very likely be renting it, the furniture you buy will stay with you for a long time. Buying the right pieces of furniture is important because furniture lasts a long time, and will come with you to many houses. If you have the right furniture, furnishing a home when you move will be a breeze.
A Kitchen Table:
Your kitchen table will last you a long time and very likely make many moves with you. The nice thing about a table, like many key pieces of furniture, once you have one, you don’t need to get another for a long time. You eat all you meals here and maybe even host dinners or have family over. A kitchen table is very important!
A Sectional Sofa
Sectional sofas are versatile and generally easy to clean. Having a place you can sit and relax after working a long day will be reward enough but not having to buy another one every time you move will also be a big factor! Sectionals move easily in smaller pieces and take no time at all to set up. As a bonus, they add to your living room and give you a place to put your feet up after a long day.
A TV Stand
Having a place to put your TV in your new home will be a small, but noticeably beneficial addition for you. It will fill out your living room now that you have a sofa too, and generally a lot of TV stands have extra storage space too, which is an added bonus. TV stands are great for the living room considering that’s where most people spend a lot of time!
End tables for your bedroom
You will likely have a bed in your room that comes with you when you move. End tables not only make a room look much more put together, but they also are great for holding things like books, a lamp, or your phone while it charges. End tables are sturdy and small, so they are easy to move. They are a great bedroom addition in comparison to something like a headboard that is usually only for looks.
For your first home, you generally only purchase what you will need. This list is a great supplement for when you are shopping for your home! Fill your home with furniture you will get great use out of and make living in your home more cost effective by avoiding buying things you don’t need or can’t take with you easily.
